Global Business Management

The 2-year Global Business Management graduate certificate provides students with in-depth business expertise, concrete managerial skills and an appreciation of global cultures and traditions. The program equips graduates for career success in domestic and international settings. The program includes a capstone work-integrated project that provides students with first-hand exposure to - and experience in - the Canadian work environment.

The Global Business Management program builds on the foundations of the International Business Management program with an additional year of intensive instruction in advanced business topics. There is an emphasis on skills such as leadership, critical analysis and strong business communication, high performance teamwork and effective presentations-- all required for students to become successful managers. Students get to put these skills into practice with a capstone Applied Project where they work with industry and community partners to gain real-world professional experience.

Study for two additional semesters and acquire advanced-level global business skills, new business and communication skills, and more hands-on applied learning experience.

International Business Management graduates from Fleming College and other Ontario Colleges may qualify for advanced standing into Fleming’s GBS program pending review of transcripts and course details.

Fleming College provides a learning experience that is supported by faculty from a wide range of disciplines and industries. The College has strong local, regional and global ties and is highly attuned to the needs of the business community. Students will be in an environment that values academic excellence as well as practical workplace skills, and has an extensive suite of support services.

Course material will be delivered using a variety of methods including traditional lectures, case studies, simulations, guest speakers and field trips.

Graduates of the Global Business Management program will bring with them an in-depth understanding of business concepts, along with well-developed soft skills that are required for contributing to organizations at an advanced level. Well-honed critical thinking skills, exposure to innovation and entrepreneurship and actual professional experience will prepare graduates for management roles in a broad range of roles in industry, government and not-for-profit enterprises in the fields of manufacturing, service delivery, logistics, marketing and sales.

  • Collect, process and interpret data and apply the results to a wide range of global business systems.
  • Develop a comprehensive global business plan taking into account a range of international realities (e.g. economic, legal, sociocultural, political realities, etc).
  • Select, develop and implement strategies to conduct business with diverse populations using culturally appropriate methods in compliance with relevant national and international law, legislation, policies, and regulations.
  • Analyze the implications associated with the importing and exporting functions of a business to facilitate international trade.
  • Inform operational decision-making of international business using financial analysis.
  • Lead and collaborate with others to maintain all levels of working relationships.
  • Apply quality control and assurance programs to international business.
  • Comply and work in accordance with ethical conduct and international corporate responsibility.

Students applying to Global Business Management must meet the following requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree or Ontario College diploma in any discipline. Applicants who do not meet the requirements listed above who possess a combination of education and relevant experience may be considered on an individual basis.

Transfer Agreements

You may be able to use credits obtained at Fleming College to continue your postsecondary education in pursuit of a degree. The articulation and credit transfer agreements with our partner institutions are summarized here.

Requirement
  • Minimum B cumulative program average.
  • Pathway does not require a student to possess a bachelor's degree.
  • The program is offered face-to-face (Nathan campus) or online.
Transfer Credit
  • 80 credit points out of a 160 credit point degree.
