The first of its kind in Canada, our 2 year Human Resource Diploma program leads with a focus on applied, real-world experience, entrepreneurial thinking, and strong communication skills, which means you'll graduate job-ready. Explore your passion, and the roles and responsibilities of HR through a full-semester work placement, working in a fully functioning HR department, mentored by an HR Professional. Find out from our grads how their work placements and studies have led to employment across a range of industries and organizations.
In your final semester you will be placed in a fully functioning HR Department with a Public, Private or Not-for-Profit sector employer, immersing yourself in the day-to-day activities, 3 days per week, mentored by an HR Professional.
The nine courses required for the CHRP, Certified Human Resources Professional, designation, approved by the Human Resources Professionals Association are included in your studies. Students who opt to pursue the designation are well prepared to write the Knowledge and Law challenge exams.
Upon completion of the two-year Diploma, students maintaining a 75% grade average can direct enter into the third year of the Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Business Administration with a Specialization in Human Resources Degree Programs at Trent University. With four years of study, students earn six years of credentialing with Fleming’s two-year Human Resources Diploma and Trent’s four-year Business Administration Degree.
Find out why this IS the right program for you by watching our recorded Instagram Live and Open House Recording with Human Resources Program Coordinator, Joanne Tully.
In their second year, students are encouraged to join the association, which leads to networking opportunities with HR Professionals and the ability to be mentored by an experienced HR Professional who has extensive experience in the field. Our well-established partnership with the Peterborough Chapter of the HRPA offers student centered events periodically throughout the year.
