Our new two-year Business - Human Resources program will provide you with the fundamental business knowledge and specialized Human Resources skills to launch your career in this rewarding field.

People are the most valued asset in any organization. As a Human Resources specialist, you will support individual and organizational success, as well as develop policies that contribute to a positive and productive workplace culture.

Program Highlights

Human Resources specialists deal with diverse and complex areas and you will learn about:

  • recruitment and selection
  • onboarding, training and development
  • employment and pay equity
  • employee and labour relations
  • health and safety
  • salary and benefits administration
  • compensation management

Why Choose Fleming

Our Business - Human Resources program offers:

  • courses that provide a solid foundation in business operations
  • a smaller, more personalized setting than you'd find elsewhere
  • hands-on, industry-specific simulations that apply in a real-world HR setting including: conducting a hazard assessment and control activity for an organization of your choice; facilitating and conducting employment interviews; developing and delivering a training program for a corporate environment; developing job descriptions and negotiating ratings to create a job evaluation system

You will also complete seven of the nine required courses for the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation. For the latest information on the CHRP designation requirements visit: http://hrpa.ca/hrdesignations_.

This program has a fast-track option. Start in January, attend classes over the summer semester and complete the program in four consecutive semesters.

School of Business programs feature a common first year where students are exposed to a variety of business disciplines. This structure allows them to explore diverse business subjects and provides the opportunity to seamlessly move to a different program specialty.

Work Experience

Human resources services are required in most enterprises. You could be working in a variety of organizations - from small start-ups to large multi-national corporations - or in a government or education setting.

As a Business - Human Resources graduate there are plenty of entry - level opportunities such as:

  • human resources assistant, administrator or consultant
  • recruiter and talent management assistant
  • onboarding and staff training co-ordinator
  • employee experience co-ordinator
  • health and safety co-ordinator
  • compensation and benefits co-ordinator
  • executive search firm associate
  • payroll administrator

The third year of this program, Business Administration - Human Resources Management, provides a semester-long applied learning experience in a Human Resources department, and includes the two additional courses required for the Certified Human Resources Professional Designation (CHRP).

This program also has many transfer agreements with universities if your goal is to complete a degree.

Additional Costs

Approximately $1,000 per year for books and supplies.
