With our new two-year accounting program, you have options:

  1. Complete the program and gain employment in an entry-level position.
  2. Graduate eligible to pursue the CPA Ontario ACAF (Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance) and begin your career at a junior/ intermediate level.
  3. Continue your studies and complete the third year in our Business Administration- Accounting advanced diploma, and graduate job-ready. This pathway will provide you with enhanced work experience and the option to pursue the CPA Ontario ACAF certificate.

    If you are considering pursuing a CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation, we now offer 2 + 2 pathway options that allow you to complete your accounting diploma and obtain a university degree in just 4 years.

Developed as a result of our special educational partnership, this agreement marks the first seamless 2 + 2 partnership between a college and university located in the same city.

Our new 2 + 2 diploma-degree pathway from Fleming College to Trent University will save you time, money, and give you the applied learning experience, practical skills and theoretical knowledge for a successful career in the field of accounting.

This agreement does not require you to take extra qualifying courses to enter the degree program.

With this 2 + 2 pathway you:

  • Enjoy both a university and college education experience
  • Earn two credentials in the time it takes to complete one degree
  • Are free during the summer as no additional courses are needed
  • Benefit from staying in one location to complete the program
  • Qualify to pursue the CPA designation upon graduation

Eligible students graduating from Fleming’s two-year accounting program enter directly into the third year of Trent University’s Bachelor of Business Administration, Specialization in Accounting. You must maintain a 75% overall average and an average of 65% in ACCT 72, ACCT4, ACCT22, ACCT 76, ACCT 80, ACCT 23, and ACCT 77 in order to meet the requirements of the accounting specialization degree at Trent, and the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Canada professional accreditation body.

2 + 2 University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) Pathway

Location: Peterborough and Oshawa

Eligible students graduating from Fleming's two - year accounting program can apply for direct entry into third year of UOIT's Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Program.

Fleming students with a minimum GPA of 3.3 (77 to 79%) may apply to enter a bridging program with UOIT that takes place over the summer following semester two.

Students must complete the following embedded bridge courses with a minimum of C (to-66%) grade in each course:

  • BUSI 1010U Critical Thinking and Ethics
  • BUSI 2311U Organizational Behaviour
  • BUSI 2401U Finance I
  • BUSI 1915U Business Math I
  • BUSI 2160U Financial Accounting II

Students who wish to pursue the Accounting major at UOIT must achieve a minimum of 65% in ACCT4 - Introductory Accounting II, a minimum of 70% is ACCT - Management Accounting I at Fleming College and a minimum C+ (67 - 69%) in each of the embedded UOIT courses.

If these requirements aren't met, the student may have the opportunity to pursue the Bachelor of Commerce comprehensive stream.

Admission to the UOIT Program is not guaranteed based on meeting minimum admission requirements. UOIT will give preference to the applicants with the best qualifications.

Mature Students

If you are 19 years of age or older before classes start, and you do not possess an OSSD, you can write the Canadian Adult Achievement Test to assess your eligibility for admission. Additional testing or academic upgrading may be necessary to meet specific course requirements for this program.

* Students starting in January are required to attend classes over the summer semester.

Additional Costs

Approximately $1,000 per year for books and supplies.

Minimum Admission Requirements

Students applying to Accounting must meet the following requirements:

  • OSSD including Gr 12 C English and Gr 11 C Math

OSSD with majority of courses at College (C ) or Open (O) unless otherwise stated.
Grade 12 C courses will be accepted where Gr 11 C course requirements are listed.
Where College level courses are listed, U and M courses will be accepted.
