From hands-on workshops and live demonstrations to information sessions and campus tours, we’re opening our doors to show you exactly what life as a Fleming student looks like.

Try one of our immersive workshops to gain hands-on skills

We believe experiential learning is essential to your success and helpful when choosing a career. At Open House, you can take part in activities that teach you skills you’ll use in the field. The following workshops start at 12 p.m.:

  • Hairstyling (Sutherland Campus): Join our Hairstyling Program Coordinator, Christopher Asta, and current students for a braiding lesson. Practice your new skills on friends, family, or our student volunteers, with expert support every step of the way.
  • Paramedic Workshop (Sutherland Campus): Check out our Paramedic program workshop to find out more about one of our most popular programs at Fleming. Learn how to handle the various situations you will face in the paramedic field and take part in a mock emergency call simulation with current students.
  • Fish and Wildlife Workshop (Frost Campus): This Fish and Wildlife program workshop will teach you how wildlife professionals estimate deer age using jaw samples and tooth wear patterns. Learn how this data helps biologists monitor populations, guide management decisions, and support sustainable conservation. You will also step into a wildlife technician role to see if you can ‘crack the case’ using real jaw samples and your new skills, with a chance to win a Fleming gift.
  • Fabric Brooch Workshop (Haliburton Campus): Take part in for a step-by-step lesson on how to create a fabric brooch. Learn how fabrics behave and can be manipulated to challenge what you believe can be created. Spots are limited so register for this workshop at the front desk when you arrive.
  • Pre-Service Firefighter Activities (Norwood): Test your strength by attempting forceable entry through a steel door or operate a firehose while learning about our Firefighter program.

Guided tours of our learning spaces

Our student ambassadors are ready to show you around! Guided campus tours run at Sutherland, Frost and Haliburton campuses every 15 minutes starting at 10 a.m. or choose to tour our program and services areas at your own leisure.

Visitors are welcome to take self-guided tours at our partner sites at Peterborough Humane Society (Veterinary Technician diploma program) and Kawartha Cardiology Clinic (Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography post-graduate program), residences, and athletics centres to see where you’ll be learning, living, and playing. Our experts and student volunteers are ready to welcome and guide you.
