Ceramics - Story Tiles

Course Code: ARTS2946

Inspired by the natural surroundings of the Haliburton Campus, you will design and create a cohesive set of original, handmade, and hand-decorated tiles. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, you will explore a variety of surface decoration techniques, including image transfer, carving, sgraffito, underglaze painting, and glazing. Emphasis will be placed on developing imagery, texture, and surface relationships that respond to the landscape while building technical confidence. By the end of the course, you will have a finished series of tiles that reflect both your personal aesthetic and an expanded understanding of ceramic surface design.
