Abstract Weaving with Neglected Textiles

Course Code: ARTS2972

Discover a fresh approach to transforming discarded treasured textiles into one-of-a-kind abstract artworks through re-weaving. From initial concept to finished piece, this course explores how to connect conceptual ideas with visual form and weaving techniques. Work begins away from the loom with free mark making, drawing and collage to develop a personal visual language and strong compositional designs. Explore methods of textile deconstruction alongside a range of weaving techniques to create pattern, texture and form. You will receive individual guidance in translating your drawings into a final woven design. This course is best suited to intermediate weavers who can independently warp a loom.
