This course is the first in a series of micro-credentials that will provide participants with foundational skills needed for the biomanufacturing sector. With a focus on the precision fermentation scale-up sector of the bioeconomy, this course will prepare participants for relevant entry-level positions within this industry. Biomanufacturing (synthetic biology) has been identified as a key growth sector of the economy in areas ranging from health, forestry and mining, and agriculture.
Fleming has partnered with Kawartha Ethanol to offer a micro-credential series in biomanufacturing. The introductory course totals 36 hours over 12 weeks and is delivered in a hybrid, synchronous format.
This is a hybrid delivery format. The course will run online, synchronously once a week for three hours at a time. Please note that during the course, registrants will have one, three-hour lab at our Sutherland Campus in Peterborough for an in-person activity. The course also includes a tour of the Kawartha Ethanol plant.
The minimum admission requirement for entrance into this program is: 19 years of age or older, or an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or its equivalent.
Micro-Credential
You will receive a digital badge after completing each of the courses in this series, and a Statement of Achievement upon completion of the entire series.
