Printmaking - Impasto Waterbase

Haliburton School of Art + Design

Enrol in Printmaking - Impasto Waterbase

Course Code: ARTS0181

This course offers a completely different approach to the compelling beauty of watercolour monoprints. 'Impasto' means to layer, and it is this thick application of pigments and the manipulation of the different colours in layers that gives these prints the rich textured look of oils along with a wide range of unique options for the realization of an image, unlike any other medium. You will learn how to use the etching press, the impasto process for plate and paper preparation, the correct way to sign and number your prints, how to do these prints at home without a press and approximately six different exciting approaches to impasto monoprinting. As with Watercolour Monotype, you need not have previous experience with printmaking or watercolour to achieve beautiful results. If you have previously taken Printmaking-Watercolour Monotype, please bring your plates from that class.

Some courses require additional textbooks and/or materials. Please visit your campus bookstore in-person or online: Peterborough Bookstore or Lindsay Bookstore.
