Painting - Art as Activism

Course Code: ARTS2623

Explore the impact of message and meaning in the contemporary art world. Understand and work towards methods, research and the creation of a major work. Initially you will be encouraged to locate yourself in your various social identities (gender, race, class, ethnicity, ability, geographical location etc). Through installation, textiles, drawing, painting and other mixed media you will explore your positionality. There will be opportunities for collaboration. The space will employ respectful dialogue with an anti-appropriative approach. This course will guide you towards creating a framework for a narrative that may disrupt, challenge norms and create awareness.
