Botanical Drawing & Painting in Watercolour

Course Code: ARTS1836

This studio course is suitable for all skill levels but some painting experience would be an asset.
While studying a variety of floral and non-flowering plants, you will learn several drawing and watercolour painting techniques. Working from instructor demonstrations, photo references and live specimens, you will explore the intricate line, shape, texture and colour of various specimens. Composition and simple perspective, as they apply to botanical art, will be addressed. Emphasis will be placed on both loose interpretation and accurate structural analysis. Each day's instruction will include several small exercises and near the end of the week, you will be encouraged to focus on studies of choice. Instruction will include ongoing support and individual feedback, as requested.
