External Aboriginal Bursaries & Scholarships
- Financial Support for First Nation, Inuit and Métis students
In addition to the Fleming College General Bursary Application, the following bursaries and scholarships are offered outside of Fleming College to First Nation, Inuit and Métis students. You may apply for these in conjunction with the Fleming General Bursary Application and/or individually based on the eligibility requirements.
When applying for internal or external bursaries, you may be required to provide proof of your Social Insurance Number (ie. SIN card, Notice of Assessment form, etc.). If you currently do not have a SIN, please give yourself plenty of time to obtain appropriate documentation to avoid any barriers in applying for financial assistance. The Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation
The Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation is independent and is governed by a Board of Directors. The Foundation will contribute to eligible applicants in the areas of:
- Sports And Recreation

- Arts And Culture

Four Directions Scholarship
Application Deadline:June 30th
This scholarship is intended for students graduating from an Ontario high school with 75% overall average. Applicants must show involvement in community and/or school extra-curricular activities, leadership qualities, dedication and good attendance.
One, $1000.00 scholarship is awarded each year to an Aboriginal student meeting the eligibility requirements.

Gladys Watson Aboriginal Education Fund
Application Deadline:October 1st
To be awarded to Aboriginal students, including Status, Non-Status, Métis and Inuit students, enrolled in graduate programs at the master's or doctoral level, and second-entry professional programs. All Aboriginal students in these programs are eligible to apply, full-time and part-time, with preference given to those students who demonstrate financial need.

John Wesley Beaver Memorial Awards
Application Deadline:May 15th
To be awarded to those in the field of Business and Administration, Engineering and Architecture, Environmental Studies. Two awards of $4000.00 each are awarded each year. Applicants must have minimum B average; demonstrate strong communication skills and involvement in extracurricular activities, including volunteer work; be legally eligible to work in Canada upon graduation; must submit a brief (500 words) overview of their interest in Native culture and heritage.

Ken Dryden Scholarship

Application Deadline:June 30, 2017, or a winner will be picked when we receive 2,500 eligible submissions, whichever comes first.
The mission for this scholarship is to challenge the narrative on social media, and to help break the taboo of speaking about mental health.
To participate applicants must:
- Either be studying full-time in high school or college, have an acceptance letter into a full-time study, or have graduated within the last five years
- Share their story about overcoming obstacles on Facebook, sharing it publicly for verification purposes, along with the hashtag #OvercomingObstaclesScholarship
