Webinar Wednesday Recap: On-Campus Residence

Published

Last week, we hosted a Webinar Wednesday session all about living in residence at Fleming College. If you couldn’t join us live, don’t worry. Below are some of the key highlights from the session, along with the full recording to watch whenever it’s convenient for you.

Choosing where you’ll live is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make before starting college. During the webinar, prospective students connected with Brooke Lynch from Student Recruitment and members of the Residence Life team, including Olivia Winder, Hayden McDonald, and Sarah Remani, to learn about residence options across Fleming’s Sutherland, Frost, and Haliburton campuses. The session explored residence styles, amenities, student supports, safety, accessibility accommodations, key application dates, and what students can expect from campus living.

WHY LIVE IN RESIDENCE AT FLEMING?

Living in residence offers more than just a place to stay. It’s an opportunity to become part of a welcoming campus community while living just steps from your classes. With fully furnished suites, dedicated Residence Life staff, regular social programming, and 24/7 safety supports, Fleming’s residences are designed to help students transition to college life with confidence.

Whether you’re attending the Sutherland, Frost, or Haliburton campus, you’ll have access to modern living spaces, opportunities to make new friends, and a supportive environment focused on student success.

THREE KEY TAKEAWAYS

1. Comfortable Residence Options Across All Three Campuses

Fleming offers residence accommodations at the Sutherland Campus in Peterborough, Frost Campus in Lindsay, and the Haliburton School of Art + Design.  Check out our YouTube Playlist for a glimpse into what life is like at each campus.

Sutherland and Frost residences feature six-bedroom suite-style accommodations, with students enjoying their own private bedroom while sharing a fully equipped kitchen, living room, and two bathrooms with their suitemates. Haliburton offers a more intimate two-bedroom suite layout, with private bedrooms and shared apartment-style living spaces.

Every residence is fully furnished, includes Wi-Fi, on-site laundry, study spaces, bike storage, and convenient access to campus facilities. Students are encouraged to connect with their future suitemates before move-in to coordinate shared kitchen items and settle into residence together.

2. A Safe, Supportive Community from Day One

Residence Life at Fleming is built around helping students feel supported throughout their college journey.

Professional Residence Life staff are available during business hours, while Residence Assistants and Community Programming Assistants provide evening programming, peer support, and assistance after hours. Campus Security is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week across all campuses, with controlled building access, well-lit pathways, and security monitoring helping students feel safe throughout the year.

Students are also encouraged to download the Fleming Safe app, providing quick access to campus security, emergency information, and helpful safety features like Friend Walk. Accessibility accommodations are also available, with dedicated support to help students access barrier-free rooms or other residence accommodations when needed.

3. Residence is More Than a Place to Live

One of the biggest advantages of living in residence is becoming part of the campus community.

Throughout the academic year, students can participate in weekly social events, educational programming, volunteer opportunities, Residence Council, orientation activities, and leadership roles. Whether it’s trivia nights, community celebrations, sports, or wellness programming, there are plenty of opportunities to meet new people and make lasting connections outside the classroom.

The webinar also covered important application information, including residence fees, key deadlines, room self-selection, move-in dates, and the housing application process. Students interested in living on campus are encouraged to apply early, as residence spaces fill quickly, particularly at the Frost Campus.
