Six high schools competing in Cast Iron Chef Competition

Peterborough ON – (March 19, 2014) – Students from six high schools will be participating in Fleming College’s Cast Iron Chef Competition next week.

Participating schools include: J Clarke Richardson Collegiate in Ajax; St Stephen Catholic Secondary School in Bowmanville; Huntsville High School in Huntsville; Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute in Toronto; St. Mary Catholic Secondary School in Cobourg; and St. Peter Catholic Secondary School in Peterborough.

Three mixed teams consisting of a Fleming chef/faculty member, a Fleming Culinary student, and the secondary students will each prepare an appetizer, main course and dessert for the competition.

The competition will take place in Fulford’s Restaurant, Room 634 of the Sutherland Campus, 599 Brealey Dr., Peterborough on Friday, March 28, 2014. Cocktails start at 6 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets to the event are limited. For $50 each guest receives a sample portion of each team’s entry. To purchase tickets, contact: steven.benns@flemingcollege.ca, 705-749-5530 ext. 1235 or Fulford’s Restaurant at ext. 1487.

Net proceeds from the competition will go toward student enrolment initiatives.
