Peterborough ON – (March 19, 2014) – A student-run organ donation clinic is encouraging members of the community to become organ donors.

Throughout this week and next, students in the General Health Science program are running the clinic in the main foyer of the Sutherland Campus. All are welcome to visit their booth and sign up to become a donor. The clinic times are:

– Wednesday, March 19 from 10 a.m. to noon

– Thursday, March 20 from 10 a.m. to noon

– Friday, March 21 from noon to 3 p.m.

– Tuesday, March 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

– Thursday, March 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

– Friday, March 28 from noon to 3 p.m.

You can also sign up online to become an organ donor. Visit https://beadonor.ca/ssfc to register.

According to BeADonor.ca, one donor can save up to eight lives and enhance as many as 75 more. Every three days in Ontario, one person dies while waiting for an organ transplant because of too few registered donors. Everyone has the potential to be an organ and/or tissue donor regardless of age or health.
