Providing employment opportunities for students

Published

Representatives from Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and The Rosseau Muskoka (a JW Marriott hotel) were onsite at Fleming College’s Sutherland Campus recently, recruiting students for a variety of positions at some of Canada’s most famous hotels.

Amy Prior and Jennifer Collingridge, both human resources managers with Fairmont, shared the many opportunities available to Fleming students in the Culinary, Travel and Tourism, and Hospitality Administration programs on Nov. 1. Julie Farnsworth, director of human resources at The Rosseau similarly spoke with students on November 29, presenting summer job opportunities.

Ms. Prior, who has worked at the Fairmont Banff Springs and Jasper Park Lodge hotels, is a Fleming alumnae. She graduated in 2000 from the Travel Merchandising program (now Travel and Tourism). Since then, she also completed a Certificate in Human Resources Management from the University of Calgary.

The representatives offered tips on the application and interview processes and introduced various job programs for students within each company.
