Published

Thinking about applying to college in Ontario? Whether you’re graduating high school, changing careers, or looking to upgrade your skills, here’s everything you need to know about how to apply for college in Ontario.

Step 1: Explore Your Program Options

Ontario has 24 public colleges offering thousands of programs from skilled trades and health sciences to arts, business, and technology.

Before you apply, you should:

  1. Compare programs: Review admission requirements, program length, and delivery format (in-person, online, hybrid).
  2. Consider location: Think about campus life, housing, and the surrounding community.
  3. Check outcomes: Look at graduate success rates, placement opportunities, and career pathways.

You can get started by browsing Fleming College’s programs to see what will fit your goals.

Step 2: Apply Through ontariocolleges.ca

All applications go through ontariocolleges.ca, the official Ontario College Application Service (OCAS). Here you can:

  • Create an account and fill in your personal details.
  • Search and select up to five programs (maximum three at one college).
  • Pay a one-time application fee that covers all choices.

Step 3: Gather Your Documents

Depending on your background, you may need to provide:

  • High school transcripts (usually sent directly by your school).
  • College or university transcripts (if you’ve studied elsewhere).
  • Proof of English proficiency (for international applicants).
  • Additional requirements such as a portfolio, résumé, or admission testing (for select programs).

Step 4: Submit Your Application

Review your application carefully before submitting it through ontariocolleges.ca. After applying, you’ll receive a confirmation email, and you’ll be able to log in at any time to track your status.

Step 5: Accept Your Offer

If you receive an offer, log in to ontariocolleges.ca to accept it online. You can only hold one offer at a time, but you may remain on waitlists for other programs.

Step 6: Confirm with Your College

After you accept your offer, your college will send you important next steps about:

  • Tuition deposits and fee deadlines.
  • Course registration details.
  • Housing and residence applications.

At Fleming College, you’ll also get connected to student support, including academic advising, financial aid, wellness resources, and orientation programming, so you feel ready from day one.
