Haliburton School of Art + Design Celebrates Culture Days 2026
As a vibrant community cultural institution, Fleming’s Haliburton School of Art + Design (HSAD) is excited to take part in Culture Days 2026, an annual celebration of arts, culture, and heritage running across Canada from September 18 to October 4.

Featured Exhibitions and Installations at HSAD
- “Fragments” Sculpture Installation
Visit the HSAD Art Hut (located outside The Great Hall) to experience “Fragments”, a figurative sculpture installation by Jordan Clements. Open Monday to Saturday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., this work explores the body as something shaped by time, pressure, change, love, and loss. Through stone carving, clay modelling, and casting, Jordan presents the figure in fragments (hands, faces, gestures, and incomplete forms) considering what these partial forms can hold: memory, identity, and vulnerability. Drawing on his practice as both a sculptor and prospector, the work connects the transformation of stone through geological processes with the ways people, too, are shaped and transformed by experience. - Truth Before Reconciliation Multimedia Exhibition
Running from September 15 to October 15 in The Great Hall, this annual multimedia exhibition highlights powerful works by Indigenous Fleming alumni, staff, faculty, and other artists that feature ceramics, digital art, sculpture, painting, and more.
Special Events
- September 23: Art Talk with Gord Peteran
In the evening, from 5 to 6 p.m. in The Great Hall, join renowned sculptor and designer Gord Peteran for an exclusive Art Talk. Gord will share the inspiration, symbolism, and creative process behind the creation of HSAD’s iconic red doors, offering unique insight into one of the school’s most recognizable landmarks. - September 26: Virtual Reality Sculpting Demo for Youth
Youth over 12 years of age are invited to join us from 12 to 3 p.m. in The Great Hall to participate in a live demonstration and explore the world of sculpting in virtual reality (VR). Using the Meta Quest 3 VR headset, participants can experience first-person sculpting and building in a digital environment by hand. As an option, finished sculptures and models can be 3D printed for a fee and picked up later.
