Fleming College Student Named OCAA All Star
Peterborough, ON – (March 3, 2023) – The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) has named Fleming College student Dion Pearson-Laviolette as a Men’s Volleyball Second Team All-Star.
The recognition came as part of the 2022-2023 year-end awards ahead of the OCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship which took place at Fanshawe College last week.
Pearson-Laviolette, from Paisley, Ontario, is a Graphic Design student at Fleming. The fifth year OCAA athlete and outside hitter finished the season strong, leading the Fleming Knights in many statistical categories.
Pearson-Laviolette played three years for the Knights before this season and had previously won Most Improved and Most Dedicated player.
Pearson-Laviolette was 9th in the league in points with 230.5 and 8th in points per set for the Knights, with the majority of his points coming from kills where he had 178 on the year.
Playing both a solid offense and defense for the 9-9 Knights, Dion also had 36 total blocks (10th in the league) and 109 digs (21st in the league) leading the team to the playoffs.
Dion graduates from our Fleming volleyball program as an OCAA All-Star. Fleming College wishes him all the best in his future endeavors and would like to thank Dion for his tremendous play on the court, as well as his leadership off the court.
