askON TEXT is a pilot SMS reference service offered by Fleming Libraries and Ask Ontario

TEXT your question to 705-990-2200 and you will get an immediate response from skilled and professional staff from your library. Text Message reference services are a great way for you to find quick info on essential library details such as, library hours, library locations, library cards, renewals, loan periods and extensions, branch information, wi-fi coordinates, remote access, catalogue records, etc. And don’t forget, if you need assistance locating online resources and books on general or specific topics, library staff will be standing by to provide you with immediate assistance through our world-class online research chat help service – askON.

askON TEXT service will be available September 9, 2013 to December 15, 2013, and January 6, 2014 to April 20, 2014.

askON responds to questions on a wide range of subjects. We accept requests from visitors outside participating libraries but we may, depending on the question and staff availability refer you to your local library.

Real people. Real Info. Real time.

You are getting help from a real person. Please be polite. We will not answer personal questions or questions that contain offensive language. We monitor usage and reserve the right to disconnect those who display rude or inappropriate behaviour.

Be patient with us. There are two to four librarians online but sometimes we are busy managing large numbers of people asking questions at the same time.

Service Hours

         Mon-Thurs: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
         Fri – Sun: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
askON will be closed on regular holidays and when public libraries are normally closed.

Privacy

askON collects the minimum amount of information from visitors necessary to provide effective service. Your privacy is protected and your phone number is anonymous.
