Peterborough, ON (October 30, 2024) Fleming College marked the 10th anniversary of the Kawartha Trades and Technology Centre (KTTC) with a special community impact and appreciation event last week.

Local community partners, alumni, and donors were invited to celebrate the impact the KTTC has had during its 10 years on students, staff and the community. The KTTC provides a new annual economic impact of $32.2 million for the local community and has had 4,200 students graduate from programs that utilize the space.
The KTTC provides students with the space and resources to take their education to the next level by allowing for critical experiential, hands-on learning that is critical for their success both academically and in their future careers.

The event kicked off with a video retrospective of the KTTC, from construction up to present day. Following that, President Maureen Adamson spoke to both KTTC’s impact over the past ten years, but also the important role it will play in Fleming’s future, such as through the expansion of its skilled trade portfolio as outlined in the recently launched strategic plan.

Executive Vice President, Academic Experience, Theresa Knott spoke about the School of Trades and Technology and the critical collaborations with community partners, and then Dean, School of Health & Community Services, Nick Stone provided remarks focused on the future of applied health and how Fleming’s School of Health and Community Services will play an integral role in solving Ontario’s health human resources shortage and other healthcare issues facing Ontarians.

The community impact and appreciation event ended with a powerful video demonstrating the impact donor and community support has directly on students, followed by a tour of the KTTC space.

Students and faculty were also able to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the KTTC at an on-campus event held on October 16th.
