Fleming celebrates the achievements of Class of 2021 at summer Convocation
Peterborough ON – (June 22, 2020) – The official end of the 2020/21 academic year is quickly approaching with the summer Convocation just around the corner. Achievements of the Class of 2021 will be celebrated during Fleming College’s 55th Convocation ceremony virtually on Thursday, June 24 at 1 p.m.
The past year has been an exceptional time with unprecedented challenges. While no one expected the events and uncertainties over the last several months, through it all, we could not be more proud of what we have all accomplished together. Never has a graduating class been called to step into the future with more hope and purpose.
In absence of in-person celebration, every effort has been made to ensure the virtual ceremony closely resembles the look and feel of traditional face-to-face celebrations that we all look forward to in the near future.
The event will feature honour song, land acknowledgement, welcome by Board Chair Fred Clifford, remarks by Fleming President Maureen Adamson, an Indigenous welcome, and O Canada performed by Kate Suhr.
In advance of the ceremony, the soon-to-be graduates are receiving their Convocation packages which include credential (diploma, certificate or post-graduate certificate), collar, alumni pin and Fleming swag. Those who earned their Indigenous Perspectives Designation will also receive a letter acknowledging this accomplishment included in their package.
Graduates are encouraged to share their Fleming pride on social media by snapping a selfie with their credential and tagging #FlemingGrad. Photos will be re-shared by Fleming and included in the online ceremony.
While the circumstances of this joyous occasion may not be ideal, there’s hope and promise of brighter days ahead. We are very excited to celebrate our graduates, and we hope to see everyone virtually at Fleming’s 55th Convocation.
