International Trade, 1996

I currently work as the Manager of Logistics at Volkswagen Group Canada, which is a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, the largest European automotive manufacturer and the third largest automotive company in the world. Volkswagen Group Canada is responsible for the importation, sale and after-sales support of VW, Audi, Lamborghini and Bugatti vehicles within Canada.

My job is the management of the inbound transportation and domestic transportation of finished vehicles and replacement parts, contract negotiation, freight payment, Customs, people management, and creating transportation budgets. I got my start with VW as a Traffic Operations Specialist and was promoted to management, and have held this position for five years. My diploma in International Trade helped me get started in Logistics, which enabled me to get the experience necessary to get this position, and I found that everything I learned in the classroom at Fleming College has been applicable to the "real world."

I chose to study at Fleming College because I wanted something that was close to home, but away from the GTA. Fleming was a great time; I got an education that prepared me for a career, and the opportunity to meet new people and gain new experiences. The International Trade program at Fleming offers the opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to start a career in International Trade, and I absolutely recommend this program!
