Cody Harack, Business Administration – Human Resources Management (Class of 2014), currently works as a Human Resources Generalist at Holsag Canada. Below is her Fleming College story:

“I attribute my gainful employment completely to Fleming College. Without their co-op placement program I wouldn’t have searched out Holsag Canada as a potential learning opportunity, and through this placement I was hired on during the summer of 2014 and eventually hand-picked to replace my mentor here at Holsag Canada. I believe Fleming College prepared me for this job with the experience of the professors and use of case studies within the classroom. During my time at Fleming College I was able to gain second-hand experience through my professors explaining real world situations and I was exposed to actual documents that are used in the workplace.

Because of my Fleming College diploma, I was also able to fast-track through Trent University  and graduate in December, 2015 (convocation is June, 2016) with my Bachelor of Business Administration – Specialization in Human Resource Management. I made the Dean’s list and would recommend this path to those who wish to earn a degree in the shortest amount of time.

My advice to current students is to be present – don’t just show up to class and be a ‘body in the room’ – participate, ask questions and share experiences. Your Fleming experience is truly what you make of it. Take advantage of the Fleming College HR Program Facebook Page, and connect with your fellow peers– these individuals will not only become key networking contacts in the future, but also some of the best friends you can imagine.

I would highly recommend the Human Resources Management program at Fleming College. The faculty and like-minded students foster a creative and positive learning environment. I had previously attended two other post-secondary institutions for administrative diplomas and ended up on Academic Prohibition due to my poor grades. Since finding Fleming College, and being introduced to the engaging Program Coordinator Joanne Tully, I found my place and my grades soared. At Fleming College, I truly did ‘learn’ human resources, felt like I ‘belonged’ due to the dedication of faculty and fellow students, and ‘became’ the professional business woman I am today.”
