William F. Whetung Memorial Student Bursary

William F . Whetung was a man of the Curve Lake First Nation. Throughout his life, he was committed to improving the public education system and encouraging native youth to pursue their educational goals. William (Bill) was involved with the Lakefield and Peterborough School Boards for over 35 years. He was a member of the Fleming College Board of Directors and was Chair in the early 1980s. The Whetung Theatre at Fleming was dedicated in his honor. Bill was also the first Band Administrator for Curve Lake, serving from 1967 to 1982.

Awarded to a self-identified aboriginal full-time returning domestic student (First Nations, Inuit, or Metis) in any program who demonstrates financial need.

*Student must have resided in Ontario for twelve months prior to beginning their post-secondary studies.
