Scholarships and Bursaries
This bursary has been established by Nicole McGee with support of Todd’s parents, Terry and Pauline Gardiner, to honour the life of her fiancé and their son Todd Gardiner (1990-2017). Todd believed a man needed a good job to be able to support his family. He successfully completed the Carpentry program at Fleming College and was later hired by the Port Hope Carpenters Union. Todd wanted everyone to reach their dreams and have a good career. He loved helping his dad and uncles to build things. He and his friends designed and built a new dock up at the cottage. His last project that he built with the help of his fiancé Nicole were 2 6-foot benches. He designed and built them and then left them at the cottage to surprise his dad on his birthday. Todd’s greatest passion was hockey. If he wasn't involved in some way with hockey, he wasn't happy. He played and coached hockey to little kids starting out. He convinced his friends that they would love hockey as much as he did and encouraged them to play and coach with him.
Todd would feel good knowing that someone is not only getting a chance with this bursary to work toward their future career, but that said person may benefit enough to have some time for fun too. Todd believed that you should work hard so that you can play harder. Through this bursary we hope that you will be successful in your program and future career but that you will also be granted the chance to have a little bit of fun along the way.
Awarded to a student enrolled in full-time studies with preference given to a student in the Carpentry & Renovation Technician program who demonstrates financial need. If no eligible recipient in this program, any student in the School of Trades & Technology may be selected.
