General Motors of Canada was established in 1908, and is a subsidiary of its parent company General Motors Corporation which is the "world's largest industrial corporation and vehicle manufacturer." It is a company that has maintained an innovative approach to automotive manufacturing, including firsts in areas of safety testing, comprehensive service policies, and new parts production.
General Motors of Canada Limited is the manufacturer of cars, light trucks, locomotives, military vehicles, and automotive components. General Motors Canada makes the Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Tracker, Chevrolet Impala and Lumina, Monte Carlo and Buick Century and Regal as well as the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Trucks.
General Motors of Canada and Sir Sandford Fleming College has had a long-standing relationship. General Motors of Canada Limited has employed many Fleming graduated and accessed Fleming training for its workers and offered many Fleming students summer employment. This bursary is offered to honour this positive relationship.
Awarded to a domestic, full-time, aboriginal student, who demonstrates financial need, in any of the following programs: Electrical Engineering Technician or Computer Engineering Technician/Technology programs.
* Student must have resided in Ontario for twelve months prior to beginning their post-secondary studies.
