Gwen Bennet
Gwen Bennet began her career in the Esthetics world over 30 years ago, when she graduated in Scotland from Central College with Diplomas from three different examining bodies: Central College with a Diploma in Beauty and Body Therapy, Aromatherapy, and Remedial Camouflage; The International Health and Beauty Council with a Diploma in: Beauty Therapy, Body Treatments, Electrical Treatments, and Electrolysis; and City and Guilds with a Diploma in: Beauty and Body Therapy, and Electrolysis. At the age of 21, she opened and successfully ran her own Beauty Clinic. Seven years later, she began pursuing a career in the educational field of esthetics, beginning with a teaching and management position at The Yorkshire Coast College in England, where her time was split between classroom teaching and managing the College's commercial spa. She subsequently accepted a teaching position at South Lanarkshire College in Scotland, where she was also responsible for developing and introducing new programs to the curriculum. Throughout her career she has continued to educate herself in other alternative disciplines within the field of Health and Wellness, certified as a Beauty Therapist (Esthetician), Hydro-therapist, Spa Body Specialist, Aroma-therapist, Reiki Master, Oncology Esthetician, Oncology Aroma therapist, Lymphatic Drainage and Master Pedicurist. Upon immigrating to Canada, she was able to practice and expand on her spa knowledge while working at two major destination Spas; as Spa Manager and Director of Training at The Grail Springs Spa, and as Head of the Esthetic Department at Ste. Anne's Spa, where she was responsible for managing the team of estheticians, staff training, and treatment development. Her return to the field of education as part of the team at Fleming College has allowed Gwen to pursue her true passion of teaching; passing on her knowledge to the next generation is the most rewarding job she could imagine.
