Charcoal Ink Making From Fibre Waste Workshop

Course Code: ARTS2978

Discover how you can transform natural fibre waste (think weaving thrums, fabric offcuts, waste wool fibre, cotton rags etc.) into a charcoal based ink for painting and drawing. Perfect for the tiny scraps that are tricky to put to use anywhere else! Learn the history of traditional black inks; a simple charcoal making process; how to prepare the charcoal for ink making; how to make your own ink binders; and how to store your ink for longevity. Play with the ink in the afternoon while exploring expressive mark making, drawing and painting in response to the forest environment.
