In a medical emergency, healthcare professionals and first responders transition to life-saving mode in a heartbeat — and timing is critical. Because every second counts, Fleming College aims to set a standard of rapid-response excellence by offering a new Basic Life Support (BLS) course. This 4-hour, in-person, Red Cross certified course equips participants with professional-level resuscitation care. Training emphasizes efficient team-driven response, high-quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and rapid action during cardiac or respiratory emergencies.

What You’ll Learn

You can elevate your life-saving skills and confidence to perform under pressure through training that prioritizes professional excellence and teamwork. You will learn:

  • High Performance CPR: Practice advanced CPR techniques for adults, children, infants, and newborns.
  • Team Communication: Explore how effective communication and clearly defined roles improve performance during resuscitation efforts.
  • Emergency Response: Develop the ability to quickly recognize and respond to cardiac and respiratory arrest situations.
  • Airway Support: Gain hands on experience with airway management strategies for patients in respiratory distress.
  • Professional Equipment Use: Learn to operate Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), bag valve masks (BVMs), and additional tools used in clinical resuscitation.
