Register your team for the Polar Cup

Published

Sharpen your skates, grab your buddies and prepare yourself for some fun on the ice at the Polar Cup 4-on-4 fundraiser hockey tournament, which is being organized by students in Fleming’s Event Management program. The Ontario Speed Skating Oval (OSSO) volunteer committee is working hard to get the outdoor ice rink ready for the big day. The ice is in great shape for the hockey players to take part in the Polar Cup tournament, which is fast approaching. Polar Cup is set for Jan. 30-Feb. 1 at the Oval site beside Lakefield District Secondary School in Lakefield. There are still spots available to register your team of four to six players. Your team will get plenty of ice time to compete for the title of “Polar Cup Champion.” Teams are guaranteed three games, and when they’re not playing there will be plenty of food and refreshments in the beer tent. Spectators are also welcome to come out and enjoy a cold one in the cold while watching some great hockey.Come out and get in the game!If you want to get in on the action whether it’s supporting the OSSO by registering a team, watching the hockey games, or simply donating to the Oval, call Tania Goncalves at (705) 652-1687 or e-mail her at: play@ontariospeedskatingoval.comStudents in Fleming College’s Event Management program are helping organize and coordinate the Polar Cup. The students, as part of the program’s curriculum, work with real-world clients to plan, coordinate and manage live events. This provides the students with valuable practical experience and skills they can take with them into the workforce.     – 30 -For more information:     Laura Copeland, Communications Officer, 705-749-5530 x 1370 or copeland@flemingc.on.ca
