New Food and Nutrition Management program at Fleming College

Published

Peterborough ON – (March 27, 2018) – Fleming College is launching a new Food and Nutrition Management program that focuses on culinary management and nutrition skills for those working in commercial or institutional kitchens.

Designed for recent graduates as well as those already working in the industry, the two-semester graduate certificate program offers a flexible online format. Each semester also includes a field placement that students may have an opportunity to complete within their community of residence.

Food and Nutrition Management, which starts in May, allows students to acquire industry-specific skills that aren’t always learned on the job. These include nutrition-based theory, physiology, effective communication skills as well as the fundamentals of human and financial management. Graduates will be eligible to work in advanced supervisory or management positions.

“We’re delighted to bring our Food and Nutrition Management program to market and believe it will help meet a very real and very acute need for more nutrition managers both here in Peterborough and the Kawarathas and abroad,” said James Boesch, Chair of Fleming College’s School of Business. “Our online courses and field placements have been skilfully developed by a team of handpicked industry experts and teaching and learning specialists to give our students the edge they’ll need to succeed in the workplace.”

To apply, students must have a diploma or degree from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution in Hospitality or Culinary Arts or relevant healthcare disciplines. For more information, visit: https://flemingcollege.ca/programs/food-and-nutrition-management.
