Important Fall 2021 information for new and returning students

Published

Peterborough ON – (August 4, 2021) – As we move through summer and approach the Fall semester, this note provides important information to continue or begin your journey at Fleming in September.

Plans for the Fall Semester

All courses will start the week of September 7, 2021.

The Ontario government recently announced the easing of restrictions for postsecondary institutions for the Fall – that is welcome news and one we have been planning for at Fleming. We recognize that many students have already made plans and to not disrupt their preparations, we will not make any drastic changes for the Fall. Plans related to program delivery remain the same for the Fall with a mix of on-campus and hybrid classes, and many remaining online.

Specific details about your program can be found on the Program Delivery information page. You can find information related to your program, including specific details about on-campus requirement for your classes and the first day you will need to be on campus.

It is important that all new and returning students check that link prior to the start of the Fall semester for up-to-date information regarding your program. As we continue our planning, any changes in on-campus learning, services and programming will be communicated through the Fall semester. The College will provide these updates in future communications as decisions to expand campus activities are made. We are in the midst of winter planning and further details will be provided in future communications.

We are here to support you. If you are a new or potential student with questions, please email askus@flemingcollege.ca.

Registrar information

Reminder: Fall tuition is due by Monday, August 9, 2021 for all full-time students.
To receive your timetable, your Fall semester fees must be paid in full. If you are planning to pay your tuition and ancillary fees with OSAP funding, please make sure your OSAP application is complete and all required supporting documents are submitted to the Financial Aid Office.

International students: Fall check-in and program dates

Information regarding the check-in process for programs requiring students to be on campus will be sent by August 16.

All incoming international students are required to participate in the online/remote portion of their programs as of September 7. However, some students may have different start dates for the on-campus/in-person courses. Please refer to this link for information on in-person attendance based on your program.

COVID protocols and safety

To ensure the safety of the Fleming community, safety protocols remain in place. For specific safety information, please see the COVID-19 information page or visit the myCampus portal. Please note that safety requirements could change pending further direction from provincial and regional government and health authorities. Fleming adheres to official guidelines and direction, and we will share any announcements with the Fleming community as soon as possible.

Residence

Fleming requires students living in on-campus residence facilities to have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine for the Fall semester and the second dose as soon as they are eligible. Any student who cannot be vaccinated on medical or other grounds recognized by the Ontario Human Rights Code may request an accommodation. The mandatory vaccine policy is supported by Peterborough Public Health and supports a safe living and learning environment in residence.

Thank you for your attention to this important information. We look forward to welcoming everyone in September!

Enjoy your summer and please take good care.
