Fleming Knights men’s basketball team presenting fun-filled programs this summer
The Fleming Knights men’s basketball team will host a variety of fun basketball programs for all ages this upcoming summer.
The programs kick off with a Summer Basketball Camp on the weekend of June 18-19 followed by a second session of the camp on the weekend of July 16-17.
The camp is for children ages 8 to 18. The camp sessions run Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to noon for kids aged 8 to 13 and from noon to 3 p.m. for teens 14 to 18 years old. The cost is $50 for the first camp session and $75 for both camp sessions.
The Knights Men’s Summer Basketball League will get underway June 21 while the Knights High School Boy’s Summer Basketball League will start June 23.
The men’s league, for players 18 years and older, will run Tuesday nights from 6-9 p.m. The boys’ league is intended for players in grades 9 to 12 and will run Thursday nights. Grade 9-10s will play from 6-7:30 p.m. and grade 11 and 12 participants will play from 7:30-9 p.m.
The cost for each league is $100 and includes a team t-shirt.
This is the first time Fleming Athletics has offered these basketball programs out of the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre, conducted by the men’s varsity basketball team.
“By establishing these summer programs we want to begin creating more relationships with our communities, provide more basketball opportunities for our communities, and help strengthen the Knights men’s basketball team,” says Josh Williams, Assistant Coach of Knights men’s basketball.
Both players and coaches of the varsity team will be organizing these programs throughout the summer. As well, other coaches and basketball experts will participate with the camps.
All of the proceeds from these programs will go to the Fleming Knights Men’s Basketball Program.
