Fleming College launches Co-Curricular Record for students

Published

Peterborough ON – (March 18, 2014) – The Co-Curricular Record (CCR) has arrived at Fleming.

The CCR is a new service for students and alumni, providing them the opportunity to document and print a record of their campus involvement and experiences outside the classroom.

The record is a way to increase participation in opportunities that help to enhance a student’s overall experience at Fleming College, as well as improve their portfolio and complement their resume to support their employment search.

“This type of a record enhances a student’s employability beyond their academic studies,” says Judith Limkilde, Associate Vice-President, Student Services.

To be designated as part of the co-curricular record, an activity must meet the following criteria:

– It provides students with meaningful learning opportunities outside the classroom;

– It is sponsored by Fleming and/or the activity has established a formal partnership with an outside agency;

– It supports and fosters transformational experiences as opposed to transactional services;

– It is co-curricular in nature and is not required for academic credit;

– It meets validation process requirements.

“The Co-curricular Record is a tool for the student to be recognized and benefit from their involvement in Fleming College activities outside of the classroom, both on campus and in the community,” says Greg Jefford, Manager, Student Life.

Students may start applying activities to their CCR from the current academic year, 2013-14.

“The biggest benefit of the Co-curricular Record is to have a document that displays the extra activities that I have done as a college student. Through these activities and experiences I have developed skills outside of the classroom that are necessary for success in the workplace and will be a differentiating factor giving me an edge when seeking employment,” says Tyler Krajcar, a fourth-semester student in the Business Administration – Human Resources Management program.
