Fleming College

Peterborough ON – (July 21, 2021) – It is my pleasure to send this note as your new Vice-President, Academic Experience (VPAE) at Fleming College. As your VPAE, I am responsible for academic programming at Fleming, and it is my hope that you will have an exceptional learning experience during your studies with us. Whether you are a new or returning student, it is our intention at Fleming to welcome all students virtually and in person, always with safety in mind.

Plans for the Fall Semester

Like all of you, we are very excited by the recent announcement from the Ministry of College and Universities encouraging a return to campus this Fall, assuming that progress in vaccinations and other public health indicators continues to improve. This is very welcome news and we have been making plans for the Fall semester in anticipation of this change.

In recognition of the plans that students have already made for September, we will continue with hybrid delivery, which includes both online classes and selected classes delivered face-to-face on-campus. All courses will start the week of September 7, 2021. Specific details about your program can be found on our Program Delivery information web page. This link will provide you with details related to your program, including specific details about the first day you will be required to attend on-campus classes, if there is an on-campus requirement for your classes. All students coming to campus for any indoor activities will be required to wear a mask at all times.

It is important that all new and returning students check the link prior to the start of the Fall semester, to ensure you have the most up to date information regarding your program. Student services will continue to be fully available virtually, with a gradual return of some on-campus services during the Fall semester. As we plan for the Winter semester, we anticipate on-campus learning, services and programming to increase to very close to normal operations. The College will update students as decisions to expand campus activities are made.

COVID Protocols and Safety

To ensure the safety of our Fleming community, safety protocols remain in place and for more specific safety protocol information, please see our website’s COVID-19 information page or visit your myCampus portal. Please note, that safety requirements could change pending further direction from provincial or regional health authorities and, direction from the Ministry of Colleges and Universities. Fleming responds to all mandated guidelines and direction, and we will share any announcements with the Fleming community as soon as possible.

Residence

The College requires all students living in on-campus residence facilities to have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine for the Fall semester and the second dose as soon as they are eligible. The mandatory vaccine policy is supported by Peterborough Public Health and supports a safe living and learning environment in residence.

As we continue to plan to come together, virtually and in person for the Fall, we remain steadfast in our commitment to your safety and your learning. We look forward to welcoming everyone for the fall semester!
