Accepted Your Offer? Here’s What to Do Next

Published

You did it. You’ve accepted your offer to Fleming College, and now your next chapter officially begins. Whether you’re counting down the days until move-in or still trying to figure out what comes next, there are a few important steps to complete before classes start.

Here’s your guide to staying on track this summer so you can start at Fleming feeling confidence, prepared, and excited.

1. Check Your Important Dates

After accepting your offer, it’s important to keep an eye on deadlines and dates throughout the summer. Missing a deadline could impact your program registration, residence, or financial aid.

Some important deadlines to watch out for include:

  • Tuition deposit deadlines
  • Residence deadlines
  • OSAP and financial aid dates
  • Timetable release dates
  • Orientation and welcome week events
  • First day of classes

Bookmark our Academic Schedule and check your Fleming email regularly so you don’t miss any updates.

2. Set Up Your Fleming Accounts

Once you’ve accepted your offer, you’ll gain access to important student platforms and accounts.

Make sure you:

  • Can access your Fleming email
  • Log into the MyCampus student portal
  • Set up multi-factor authentication

Your Fleming email is where you’ll receive important updates about registration, orientation, and student life.

3. Apply for Residence or Plan Your Housing

Planning to live on campus? Residence spaces fill up quickly, so complete your application as soon as possible. Check out our upcoming webinar for more information about living on campus and hear directly from our on-campus housing team.

If you’re living off campus, now’s the time to:

  • Start looking for rentals
  • Connect with future roommates
  • Research transportation options

Getting your housing sorted early will make the transition to college much smoother.

4. Apply for OSAP and Financial Aid

If you’re planning to apply for OSAP or bursaries, don’t wait until the last minute.

Applying early helps ensure:

  • Your funding is processed on time
  • You know what support you qualify for
  • You can plan your budget before the semester starts

You can also explore scholarships, bursaries, and work-study opportunities available through Fleming at our upcoming Financial Aid webinar session.

5. Get Excited for Orientation and Welcome Events

Orientation is one of the best ways to meet new people, learn the campus, and settle into student life before classes begin.

You’ll get the chance to:

  • Meet classmates and faculty
  • Explore campus resources
  • Join clubs and activities
  • Learn tips for academic success
  • Make connections before your first class

Even if you’re nervous, showing up can make a huge difference in feeling comfortable during your first weeks. Keep your eyes on your email for event details closer to the beginning of the semester.

6. Start Preparing for College Life

College is more than just classes. It’s a new routine, new experiences, and new independence.

Over the summer, you can:

  • Organize your schedule
  • Learn basic budgeting
  • Plan transportation
  • Buy school supplies
  • Connect with future classmates online
  • Follow Fleming social channels (@flemingcollege) for updates and student tips

The more prepared you are now, the easier your transition will feel in September.

7. Complete Your NARs (Non-Academic Requirements)

Depending on your program, you may need to complete Non-Academic Requirements, also known as NARs, before placement or classes begin.

These can include things like:

  • Immunizations
  • CPR or First Aid certification
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Checks
  • WHMIS or health and safety training
  • Mask fit testing
  • Additional documentation for placements

Programs in health sciences and community services often have these requirements.

Start early. Some documents and appointments can take weeks to process, especially during the summer.

Your Fleming Journey Starts Now

Accepting your offer is a huge milestone, but it’s only the beginning. Taking care of these next steps now will help you feel ready for everything ahead of this fall.

Enjoy your summer and get ready to start your Fleming experience. We can’t wait to see you on campus!
