Fleming College supports One Roof and Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre homeless shelter

Published

While the Fleming College community continues to practice physical distancing to flatten the curve, we are also coming together to serve our communities.

To alleviate stress on current shelters and provide enhanced physical distancing, the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre at Fleming’s Sutherland Campus is being utilized as an emergency homeless shelter. Fleming staff helped clean and set up the gymnasiums and multi-purpose rooms to accommodate shelter clients, who are supervised by Brock Mission staff.

To support One Roof Community Centre with their food preparation for this emergency shelter, Fleming College is donating food items to help those in need. This includes soup, pastrami/corn beef, smoke turkey, sliced cheese, frozen cream and milk, almond milk, frozen Linzer tarts and lemon flan, eggs, assorted breads, beets, and carrots. The College will continue to donate food items to help.

Nick Draker-Fortis, Culinary Programs Technologist, helps deliver food donation.

We are in this together and we will get through this together. Fleming College is proud to lend a hand to help our communities.
