Fisher Gauge was started as a small, one-man workshop in the basement of the family home in East City, Peterborough in 1942 by William Fisher. William (Bill), was a tool and die maker and designer, and he specialized in machine design, particularly precision die casting and small components.

Fisher Gauge has had a long-standing relationship with the College. Fisher Gauge has been an employer of Fleming graduates for many years and has been an employer of Fleming graduates for many years and has used the College's training services to upgrade the skills of their workers.
