Scholarships and Bursaries
The Rev. Jim Reese Scholarship in Developmental Services recognizes students who excel in the Developmental Services Worker program. This scholarship is created in memory of Rev. James (Jim) Reese, founder of Christian Horizons, now called Karis Disability Services, who sadly passed away on July 5, 2019. His vision and dedicated work towards a ministry for people with disabilities has changed the lives of people across Canada and around the world. In 1963, Jim and Adrienne Reese gave birth to their son Steven, who was born with developmental disabilities. And, two years later, with a group of families, founded the organization that we know today as Karis Disability Services. Karis Disability Services is a non-profit, faith-based charitable organization with 3,500 employees supporting nearly 3,000 people with developmental disabilities and their families through residential and ancillary programs in Canada, and in developing countries around the world.
Awarded to a student top performing student enrolled in any semester of the Developmental Services Worker (Disability Studies) program.
