Larry O'Connor

Larry O'Connor is an Odawa Anishinaabe, Eagle Staff Carrier, and Band Member of the Sheshegwaning First Nation on the north shore of Manitoulin Island and currently resides in Haliburton County. A seasonal resident for over 30 years, Larry decided to live in Haliburton County full-time in retirement. As Larry's life slowed, he began exploring his Anishinaabe family roots, which he has been sharing on Canoe radio since 2016. Larry has become an avid artist with beading being his medium. He has spent thousands of hours creating original pieces of Indigenous regalia and crafts. In the last few years, Larry has become recognized as an Indigenous Knowledge Holder and has shared his beading skills in schools across Haliburton, Kawartha and Muskoka schools.
