Cecilia was born and raised in Italy where she graduated in Geology at the University of Cagliari (Sardinia).
She worked as a field geologist in Italy conducting geological mapping and supervising drilling programs for mineral exploration. She started her training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing in 1991 at the International Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Sciences (ITC) in Enschede, The Netherlands, and then worked as a Remote Sensing Geologist in Italy until 1995. During her stay at ITC in Holland she met her Canadian husband Frank and in 1995 she moved to Canada. They settled in Peterborough, ON and had three beautiful children.
In Canada Cecilia continued her studies and in 2003 completed a Master of Science at Trent University, Peterborough, in the Watershed Ecosystem Management graduate program using GIS technologies applied to geological research. The same year she started teaching at Fleming College, Frost Campus, in Lindsay. In 2005/2006 she went back to Trent University and completed a Bachelor of Education. She currently teaches GIS courses at Frost and works as an occasional teacher for the PVNCCDSB School Board. She also teaches Italian Language at the Sutherland Campus in Peterborough.
