Illustration & Narrative

Course Code: ARTS2711

Whether you're interested in illustration, picture books, comics, graphic novels, game design, animation, visual art, or any other outlet for combining images and stories, let's bring your idea to life. Come with a story idea that you want to develop or just an open mind to wander after inspiration. Create character designs, environments and story arcs for a world of your own creation. Experiment with a variety of traditional drawing materials and expand your unique approach to image-making through a greater understanding of composition, line style, form, value, perspective, texture, and colour. Instruction will include demonstrations of drawing techniques and media, activities to encourage inspiration, and examples of works by artists from a variety of disciplines as you work towards producing a series of illustrations for a narrative that expresses your voice. Individual feedback will be provided in a supportive environment.
A $40 material fee payable to the instructor will be needed on your first day of class
