Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (A.S.I.S.T)

In partnership with LivingWorks, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a 2-day intensive and interactive suicide first aid course designed to help individuals recognize the risk of suicide and provide suicide intervention support. This training is suitable for all persons in a position of trust including health care providers, front-line workers, clergy, volunteers, teachers, counsellors, law enforcement personnel, first responders and the public. This course prepares participants to: Understand the ways that personal and societal attitudes affect views on suicide and interventions, Provide guidance and suicide first aid to a person at risk, Identify the key elements of an effective suicide safety plan, and Recognize other important aspects of suicide prevention including life-promotion and self-care.
