Seeking candidates for the Fleming College Board of Governors
Fleming College is looking for community leaders to serve as members of the Board. College Governors serve a three-year term with a possible second term, for a maximum appointment of six consecutive years.
One governor is required for a term commencing Sept. 1, 2013. This position will be considered for appointment by the Fleming College Board of Governors.
Three new members will also be needed for terms commencing Sept. 1, 2014. Based on the nominations from the college, these three positions will be considered for appointment by the Lieutenant Governor in Council through the Public Appointment Secretariat, a process that can take six months or more to complete.
While there are no geographic limits for appointment, preference will be given to applications from residents of communities in the Peterborough, Northumberland, Haliburton, and City of Kawartha Lakes areas. To complement the current Board membership, there is an interest in candidates with skills, experience and expertise as follows:
– Corporate governance (director in public and/or private sector);
– Senior management experience in medium to large organizations (labour relations or human resources);
– Business development and strategic planning (business plans, management skills);
– Government services and advocacy (policy development);
– Legal expertise (risk assessment, non-profit law);
– Diversity, multicultural knowledge (Aboriginal/First Nations, special needs, international services and programs);
– Environmental and natural resources field (renewable resources, sustainability, green technology);
– Agricultural sector
