Close to 1,000 new students starting at Fleming College in September will be taking over the Sutherland and Frost campuses next week for Welcome Days.

Hosted by Fleming’s Student Life department, Welcome Days help to ensure incoming students feel connected prior to starting classes. Students have the opportunity to have a tour and arrange for items such as parking, student identification, lockers, text books, and meal plans. Facilitated presentations for students and parents are also available.

“Welcome Days are designed for students and their families to become familiar with Fleming services and supports and to recognize them as part of the Fleming community. We want to give our students a jump on September and have them leaving feeling well-informed, connected and prepared. Our results show that those that attend Welcome Days are more successful with their transition into college life,” said Greg Jefford, Manager, Student Life, Athletics and Recreation.

Fleming staff and student leaders will be on hand to answer questions about residence and housing, financial aid, athletics and recreation, learning support services, and career services. Visitors can also experience what it’s like to stay in residence. For $50, families (up to six individuals) can stay for one night.

Welcome Days take place at Sutherland Campus on Monday, July 18; Wednesday, July 20; and Friday, July 22. At Frost Campus, Welcome Days are set for July 18 and 22. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. each day with sessions beginning at 9:30 a.m.
