Free Art Talks and Walk-Abouts in Haliburton
Don’t miss the opportunity to participate in free art talks and walk-abouts hosted by the Haliburton School of The Arts at the Haliburton Campus of Fleming College. The art talks take place every Wednesday from 4:45 to 6 p.m. throughout the summer. This free presentation is open to students, staff and the public and takes place in the Great Hall.Upcoming talks include: Perspectives from a Roundtable, July 16: hosted by Joanna Nash, Thom Lambert, Brian Smith, Michael Letki, and Annette Blady VanMil, the roundtable will explore perspective in art such as the art of picturing objects so as to show relative distance or depth; Working from the Light Side of the Brain, July 23: hosted by Rod Prouse this presentation will look at events that inspire creativity in the Canadian landscape… a look at the artist as a multi-media inventor; The Artist/Teacher as a Full-Time Student, July 30: hosted by Steve Hudak this session looks at the journey of returning to university to study art; What Brand of Artist Are You? August 6: hosted by Paul Portelli this presentation shows participants how to determine what kind of artist they are and how to nurture it; Photographic Reality, August 13: hosted by Guy McCrum this session explores the debate of realism vs. digital manipulation in photography.The walk-abouts take place on Thursdays from 4 to 5:45 p.m. throughout the summer. Students, family, friends and community members are invited to visit classrooms at the campus, see the work in progress and speak with instructors.
