Forestry Week at Frost
Forestry Program Coordinator Gerald Guenkel with second-year students Bill Hadfield, and Sarah Walker.

The Frost Campus celebrated Forestry Week with a tree-planting party on Thursday, September 28.Students, many from the Forestry and Arboriculture programs, planted 2,000 white pine seedlings that had been grown in the campus greenhouse. The seedlings were planted near the Outdoor Education Centre, south of the access to the Nature Trail. The tree planting will contribute to the Frost Campus arboretum, which was established in 2005.National Forest Week, an annual event, will take place this year from September 24-30. This year’s theme is Canada’s Natural Resources – Connected to Our People and Our Land. According to the Canadian Forestry Association, National Forest Week was originally established in 1920 as Forest Fire Prevention Week. It was renamed in 1967 and now encompasses all aspects of Canada’ s forest resources. The week challenges Canadians to learn more about their forest heritage and support greater recognition of this valuable resource.
