Fleming Rolls Out Micro-Credential Pilot Program

Published

Fleming College is one of 10 Ontario post-secondary institutions participating in the MyCreds™ Ontario Virtual Skills Passport pilot project for micro-credentials.

This new initiative allows Fleming to deliver verifiable digital micro-credentials through MyCreds™. This will give learners digital access to their micro-credentials.

Fleming College is currently in the process of developing and launching eight micro-credentials in Virtual Reality and five in Digital Marketing, through the Virtual Learning Strategy project. In addition, Fleming is developing 26 micro-credentials in Sustainable Community Food Production and 20 in Urban Forestry.

The Service System Manager is launching an Employment Counselling micro-credential in September 2022. Digital badging has been identified as the industry standard, and preferred method of credentialing for this project, which Fleming will be advancing through this initiative.

MyCreds™ is a virtual credential wallet for post-secondary documents and graduate credentials.

Brock University, Centennial College, Conestoga College, Durham College, Humber College, Niagara College, Oshki-Pimache-O-Win: The Wenjack Education Institute, University of Windsor and Western Continuing Studies are also part of the pilot program.

Funding for this initiative was provided through the Ontario Virtual Learning Strategy.
