Fleming Phoenix Host Women’s Rugby Sevens Tournament
Peterborough, ON (October 11, 2023) Rugby fans are invited to the pitch this weekend as the Fleming Phoenix hosts a women’s rugby sevens tournament at Nicholls Oval.
The tournament, which takes place October 14 and 15, is hosted by Fleming College Athletics and Recreation in partnership with the Peterborough Rugby Club. The tournament will take place at the Peterborough Rugby Club’s field at Nicholls Oval (725 Armour Road) and will feature women’s rugby sevens teams from eight different Ontario colleges in the final regular season tournament before the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Provincials.
The tournament kicks off at 10 am on Saturday with the Fleming Phoenix taking on the first place Durham Lords. Matches will continue throughout the day and into Sunday afternoon. The schedule for all games is posted on the OCAA website: https://ocaa.com/sports/wrugby7/2023-24/schedule
The rugby tournament provides an opportunity to watch talented student athletes and exciting rugby matches with teams as student athletes from all OCAA teams participating.
Fleming College Athletics and Recreation is fortunate to have this unique opportunity to partner with the Peterborough Rugby Club who have generously donated their facilities, staff, and volunteer time to help make this tournament happen.
