Fleming Offers Support for Ukraine

Published

So many of us are concerned and unnerved by the events currently unfolding in Ukraine. Canada is home to the second largest Ukrainian population in the world outside of Ukraine itself and there is no doubt that this would include many of our fellow colleagues, friends, neighbours and students. The struggles faced by the Ukrainian community are certainly difficult to comprehend, as people worry for the safety and well-being of their loved ones back home. We join the international community in denouncing this hostile and illegal invasion of a sovereign country.

Locally, members of our Fleming community are in the process of organizing various fundraising and donation related campaigns in Peterborough and the surrounding area. The first event will be held at all Shoppers Drug Mart stores in Peterborough this Saturday, where customers can purchase a kit of medical supplies for $10 (retail value worth $40). The difference between the retail value and the $10 contribution from customers is being absorbed by local Shoppers Drug Mart stores, which are all locally owned. Our goal is to move a minimum of 500 of these packages to Ukraine this Saturday.

If you are not able to make it out to a Shoppers Drug Mart store this Saturday or would like to help in other ways, you can go to any of the reputable links below and make a contribution. Every donation will help retain freedom, liberty and democracy not just in Ukraine but around the world.
